Draft. Final wording is pending legal review. The substance won't change much, but specific clauses may be revised on advice.

This policy explains what BIWA Leaderscollects when you visit the site, apply to become a member, or operate as a director — and how we use, share, and protect that information under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

What we collect

When you apply to visit, become a member, or operate as a director, we collect identity, business, and contact information necessary to verify you, route you to the right Alliance, and enforce category exclusivity.

Members additionally generate activity data — referrals logged, 1-on-1s reported, attendance recorded — that powers credibility scoring.

Data isolation

A member's detailed referral and meeting data is visible only inside their own Alliance. Members of other Alliances and the public see only aggregated credibility scores and total business contribution figures. This isolation is enforced at the platform level.

How we use it

To run the platform — match visitors to Alliances, compute scoring, generate the public directory listing, and operate the franchise. We do not sell member data. Ever.

Your rights under DPDP Act 2023

You may request a copy of your data, request correction, or request deletion at any time by writing to privacy@biwa.in. Membership-related obligations may require us to retain certain records for the duration of your active membership and a limited period thereafter for audit and dispute resolution.

Cookies & analytics

We use first-party analytics (PostHog) and Google Analytics for public-page performance. Members can opt out from the dashboard preferences pane. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Data sharing

We share your information only with: (a) other members of your Alliance for the purpose of running the chapter; (b) auditors and legal counsel where required; (c) infrastructure providers (e.g., hosting, email) under standard data-processing agreements; and (d) law-enforcement authorities where compelled by Indian law.

Retention

We retain personal information for the duration of your active membership and for up to seven years thereafter to satisfy contractual, audit, and statutory obligations. Anonymised aggregate data may be retained indefinitely.

Contact / grievance officer

For privacy questions or grievances, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@biwa.in. Under the DPDP Act, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India if your concern is not resolved within 30 days.
